TOUR JOURNALS! October 18, 2004: I will admit that I am a little bit hungover today. Last night we played in Denver at Rock Island and I had a little too much fun. We usually hang out at a place called Illegal Petes down the street from the club. Lots of our friends work there and give us deals on burritos and drinks. If you are in the know you can order a delicious item called the super taco. It’s not even on the menu bitch so you better be a regular! I made my girlfriend drive the van home. She is so nice. I guess I tried to spoon with Pete from Over it before I went to bed. He just informed me of this after I stumbled out of my room. Over It was all bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning. They are headed down to visit the new Suburban Home Records offices. What a thrill that will be! Tonight we play in Ft Collins. It’s a monday night so wish us luck! I must be hungry because I want to write more about food. There is another burrito place in Ft. Collins that may be a close contender for the kick ass burrito award. It’s called Big City and they have a potato burrito that has ranch dressing on it. MMMmmmm good! There is so much good food in most college towns and the Fort is no exception. Last night Scott made some crazy pasta with fake meat and a can of tomatoes. We are living large folks. I think I will take my awesome 1990 Toyota Corola for a spin today. Maybe to the thrift store or to Taco Bell for that new value menu. That’s all I have to say kids! I got shit to do today so I better run. Peace! – Chris, The Gamits October 13, 2004: Good morning from Austin Texas. We are about a week into this tour now. This is the first chance I have had to do an update. Can I just say that the guys in Over It are so splendid and marvelous! That’s right fellas. I said it. I have known these guys for a long time but have never really had the chance to hang out on a daily basis and I’m glad I have been given the chance. I have also been lucky enough to hear their new CD, which is not out yet, and it is packed with hits! I’m sure that at the end of this tour I will be saying that these guys made it worth while. With that said lets do a brief tour summery up to this point. We (The Gamits) made our way out to California with one show in Gunnison Colorado. It cost sbout $5,000 bucks in gas. Then we played a sold out show at Chain Reaction which was a good time. Then it was on to AZ to party down with the Stereotyperider guys and party down we did. I took a ride on Anthony’s motorcycle and we got up to 100 mph on the highway. Don’t worry, we ate bean dip afterwards. Then we played an arcade which was strange and I felt older than ever. Then it was on to El Paso. I was happy to be back in Texas becasue I love Taco Cabana and started eating that stuff as soon as possible. By the way, ask Scott how he got a black bean in his pants. After El Paso, then we drove and drove to Austin. The show was at Emos and for an early show on a monday it wasn’t half bad. We went down 6th street later and partied with National Product, who are also very nice fellas, and my old friend Keith (Teen Idols ) showed up, which was totally random. He bought me these crazy shots and that was it. Last night was San Antonio at the white rabbit which was next to a pit BBQ so it stank like burning flesh all night. We made it back to Austin and tonight we rock Dallas. We are looking forward to the Colorado shows very much. Only a few days until that stuff. That’s about it for now. Thanks for reading and see you at the show! – Chris, The Gamits October 13, 2004: Hi everybody! We’re here in Austin, TX waking up and getting ready to drive to our show today in Dallas. Since we got here we’ve been hanging out with three of our texas heros: Near Miss, Dynamite Boy and Establishment Clothing! Yeah, dont mess with Texas!. On our second show in Texas we actually got to share the stage with Near Miss. Those guys headlined the Austin show @ Emo’s and all the bands got to check out new material from an EP those guys just recorded. National Product has managed to trash their RV and the tour isn’t even half way over. In 24 hours, they somehow ripped a vent off the roof with a tree branch, ripped a rearview mirror off the side with a street sign and shattered the glass of the window on the door by slamming it! Two more shows in Texas (dallas and houston), one show in oklahoma and then we’ll be on to the home of the gamits: COLORADO! More updates then… -James Over It October 9, 2004: Greetings from Phoenix, AZ! We’re waking up to our third day of tour and we’ll be heading even further south into the desert today as we make our way down to Tucson. I’m not quite sure where National Product or The Gamits are right now… The tour started at chain reaction in Anaheim a couple of nights back with a sold out show that featured the return of Saosin to their homebase of Orange County after a brief hiatus. Yes, those guys destroyed and their new singer is just as good if not better… but we were all really excited to meet up with The Gamits that day. We’ve been hanging out with Chris and those guys for as long as we’ve been touring through Denver. They’ve always given us a place to stay and a beer to drink, but this marks the first time that we’ve toured together. It’ll be awesome watching those guys every night, but as my luck goes, I missed them at chain because I had to run with Pete back to our house to grab stuff that we forgot! National Product headlined the show and everyone was stoked to start the tour off on the right foot. NP actually has this HUGE RV for this tour with a side that pops out when you’re parked to give you three extra feet in width. Its only a matter of time before The Gamits find the refridgerator on board… Yesterday we did the haul across the 10 from LA to Phoenix. We all got there right in time for load in and we pretty much kicked it old school in the dirt (parking lot). At some point I stacked our merch bins in front of the RV’s windshield, climbed up and gave every one on board a full moon. I thought they’d be made but they kept trying to get me to do it again so they could video tape it! EW DUDE. DONT CHOOSE TO LOOK AT MY ASS. After another hour of hangin out like porch monkeys I found out that some of the National Product guys can speak pigeon (now thats cool)… and then I found out that the guys The Gamits were hangin around with were Stereotyperider! That was cool too cause we’ve been rockin to those guys for a couple of years now. The show went really well and we managed to get out of there before midnight. We hit Wendy’s and continued to pick our noses (in the desert you get all these glass shard boogers around the edge of your nose from the dry air). At our friends apartment we feel asleep watching the first season of Da Ali G show. Damn good times. -Seth Over It ——– BAND VIDEOS! Pastepunk is proud to present the following video for OVER IT’s brand new song, “Ignore The Noise,” from the band’s upcoming release, “Silverstrand,” due out in February 2005. I’m loving this song more and more with every listen! Why haven’t OVER IT used the back-up “woah woahs” before?!?
