ONE KING DOWN “Gravity Wins Again”

The words “long anticipated” do not serve justice to how much I wanted to receive this release. For years I ignored this band for basically no reason at all until one day they landed on a compilation that I had just purchased, and since then I’ve been hooked. “Bloodlust Revenge” is easily one of my favorite releases, and although I wasn’t thrilled with “God Loves, Man Kills,” it wasn’t too shabby either. Then OKD got back together with Rob Fusco, original vocalist, and then I knew all would be cool. I saw them play their first show reformed in October, and they were simply devastating, so I’m anxious to see them again, especially bashing out the new material from this ep, which by the way shreds! The CD release of this contains not only the three new tracks, but the Absolve 7″ rerecorded, and on CD for the first time, wooohooo! The new material lacks that monster crunch that it used to have, but it is also faster than before, with more clackity clack double bass too. This makes great driving music. If you are looking for huge, complex hardcore with a crushing sound, brillantly screamed vocals, and intensely dark, esoteric lyrics, OKD will have your fix. 27 thoroughly enjoyable minutes of stomping music. Forget that LIMP BIZKIT crap, this is the music to break stuff to – and then cry about it.
