OFF WITH THEIR HEADS “From The Bottom”

If it looks like a duck… sounds like a duck… There’s no way to skirt around the fact that Minneapolis’ OFF WITH THEIR HEADS have a serious DILLINGER FOUR complex to their music. From the melodically husky lead vocals, to the buoyant pop-punk, and well-crafted personal lyrics, From the Bottom has its D4 credentials down-pat. Attractive as that is on its own, OFF WITH THEIR HEADS take their own stand with a slate of twelve eminently catchy songs, chock full of pogo-friendly beats, rousing sing-alongs, and loud guitars. For a band as prolific as OFF WITH THEIR HEADS (over ten releases in just a few years including splits with J CHURCH, TILTWHEEL, and FOUR LETTER WORD), From The Bottom showcases their most professional sounding recording to date. The crispness of the bass and drums readily propel the band while the guitars have an almost BOUNCING SOULS like liveliness to them. Lyrically, From The Bottom veers in several directions; from a song about the absurd Fox News reaction to the I-35 bridge collapse (“Terrorist Attack?), to the angry despair of “Fuck This, I’m Out,” and a whole host of vague storytelling jams likely involving members of the female persuasion, the best word to describe From The Bottom is heartfelt – an unlikely pairing with a band named OFF WITH THEIR HEADS.
