MAKE OR BREAK “Think About It!”
Florida’s MAKE OR BREAK sound like they’re having the time of their life on Think About It!, the band’s 11 song, 15 minute, debut full-length. With an old-school sound that’s comparable to northern hardcore influencers FASTBREAK (before they went ‘boy-band’), FLOORPUNCH, and GORILLA BISCUITS, Think About It! handily rips through its songs with little time for shenanigans. MAKE OR BREAK keep their lyrics and messages simple and to the point. While the topics are hardly novel, as are the song titles (“Positive Youth,” “Stay True,” and “We’ve Had Enough”… I’m not making this up…) the songs are sung and played with tremendous excitement, and the recording’s pretty solid too. Rounding out the effort is a great cover of SICK OF IT ALL’s classic “Friends Like You,” and photo-collage artwork that includes a band photo with the fellas standing below the famous CBGBs awning. These guys really know how to warm a hardcore’s kid heart.
