HOW IT ENDS “Beloved”

Major double bass and monotonous vocals. At least this album from HOW IT ENDS is pretty heavy and has some crushing breakdowns. Beloved, however, sounds like one gargantuan song. If HOT IT ENDS could tie in all the songs to each other it would be just that. Beloved is in dire need of some variety in their songs other than the same old formula they’re using, which sounds really cool at the beginning of the album, but quickly tires out by the end. The production isn’t that bad, but there’s no change of pace throughout the entire album, which makes it draining and bland. Highlights from Beloved mainly come from the first couple songs, as they are the fastest and most intense, setting a good mood for the rest of the album, but, again, it quickly fades into oblivion and never picks up any real character. Don’t get me wrong, this album gives you plenty of chances to do your dancing and your air punching (if that’s all you’re expecting out of it), but it lacks that certain umph that gives other albums a crushing edge. It’s solid enough to enjoy listening to, but it’s also “solid” enough to just need a couple songs.
