GOLD BLADE “Strictly Hardcore”

GOLD BLADE has already established themselves as one of England’s biggest names in punk, even landing a couple of singles in the top 75 singles charts. So why haven’t we ever heard of them? With “Strictly Hardcore”, GOLD BLADE plans to alleviate that problem, putting together 15 of their best tracks over the years to finally expose the US to what they have to offer. Frontman John Robb has been one of the only mainstays in a band that has undergone several lineup changes, but always managed to wave the punk rock revolution flag since the mid 90’s. Older singles like “Black Elvis” and the title track, “Strictly Hardcore”, are pretty impressive (though you won’t see them on the Billboard charts anytime soon). “Hairstyle”, a catchy ska track, is one of the most notable songs on the album, even used by a UK wrestler as his theme song when he enters the ring. This band will draw obvious comparisons to ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT and many old school punk bands along the lines of the SEX PISTOLS or THE RAMONES. For a band that has made its reputation through its live show, this album serves as more of a precursor to their upcoming fall tour, their first in the US. While GOLD BLADE probably won’t make a huge splash in the US punk market immediately, take up the opportunity to catch them while they are still unknowns around here.
