GLASSEATER “7 Years Back Luck”

So you like hardcore, but you don’t like a lot of that tough guy sounding stuff. You also happen to dig a lot emo music, but often find that the music is a bit soft, or could use a little more power and energy. Behold your solution: Eulogy Records, and more specifically, GLASSEATER!!! If it were not for mp3 technology, I would not have heard of this band, and therefore, I would have been missing out on some great emo-core. GLASSEATER are similar to label mates, KEEPSAKE, and genre buddies, FURTHER SEEMS FOREVER. Jason’s vocals don’t always stand out from the often chaotic musical landscape, but they often scrape and bleed like an old razor cutting through the hysteria. The music never reaches a point of overpowering itself, but it often tests the limits of passion. The title of the album is certainly indicative of the dark and troubled lyrics that follow. Switching back and forth between screaming and singing, a great sing along element is established, creating a monstrous sense of urgency in GLASSEATER’s songs. It is hard to not get caught up in the repeated lines. Track five, “Last Song,” has an instantly favorable lyric in, “I’ve got better things to do than waste these words on you,” and the pain doesn’t end there. GLASSEATER turn on their high intensity sound to the highest notch when they introduce the guitar crunch more profusely in their songs. With such powerful components, GLASSEATER shatter the tenseness and let the rubble speak for itself. “Seven Years Bad Luck,” plants itself nicely into a substantial sonic inferno – if you can handle it, pick this up.
