FOREVER IS FORGOTTEN “The Architecture is Still Burning”

Although I’ve never claimed to be much of a music critic, and have handled Pastepunk roughly by the seat of my pants for more than five years now, I have come to conclude that even for the most “extreme” (ha!) band, without good songs, ones craft better be self-gratifying to create, because otherwise, it will probably offer very little to an always skeptical public. FORGOTTEN IS FOREVER is like a parent screaming to an unruly child, “what on earth I am going to do with you?!?!” before breaking down into relentless sobs. Putting aside the band’s shockingly generic name, the shocking generic song titles (“I’m Glad Your Dead” being particular trauma-inducing), we are left with the shockingly generic take on metalcore (hmm, cat’s out of the bag now, isn’t it?). I don’t even know how to trash this release for being the pile of rat droppings that it is. Perhaps the worst thing about “The Architecture Is Burning” is that the respective bandmembers, minus the ineffectual vocalist, have some seriously kicking musical chops. BUT THERE’S NOTHING HOLDING THOSE MUSICAL CHOPS TOGETHER! WHERE IS THE FRIGGIN’ SONGWRITING? While I may never understand how a band can write and record a 53 minute long disc and have essentially nothing but various parts, slopped together and retreaded, over and over (I think METALLICA recently did the same thing), I am most boggled by the fact no one was able to stop this atrocity before it became an official release. Shockingly bad.
