EVERAFTER “Fading Into Bright”

After getting over the initial shock of hearing a female fronted pop-punk band on Tribunal Records (who are notoriously known for their forays in brutal metalcore), it took me no more than three songs to realize how incredible EVERAFTER are. Wow! Amazing, sweet, and soulful vocals coast delightfully over a rhythm section that rivals the best with intensity, tightness, and precision. I pretty much consider NEW FOUND GLORY the pinnacle of writing pop-punk tunes with a massive sound, played with the sharpness of a tack, but EVERAFTER shred – especially when the drummer breaks out the forbidden beat. If one could imagine the now broken up ELEMENT 101, sped up to the fury of OVER IT, with killer lyrics, deceptively convincing breaks, and quiet parts akin to the swirling constructions of waves turning silent, “Fading into Bright,” is that concoction. Fourteen quality songs get plowed through on this disc, and although the production is clearly average, it’s highly successful in showing off what this band is probably capable of given the realms of a bigtime studio. Ashley Smith’s vocals are probably the best female vox in this genre going. Fans of THE ATARIS, OVER IT, THE MOVIELIFE, and TAKING BACK SUNDAY should eat this up! Tribunal – I salute you!
