DESTROY NATE ALLEN “Awake O’Sleeper”
DESTROY NATE ALLEN is the brainchild of DIY folkster, Nate Allen. The genesis of how Nate Allen birthed a band name might not be the most perplexing but his music delivers a lesson in folk ambiguity. Since these songs rarely go beyond the stock format of acoustic strumming and Allen’s crooning it leaves little room for creative fumbles. Throughout Awake O’Sleeper Allen is found time and time again blurting out songs that are heavy with disaffection and disinterest. Where a band like DEFIANCE, OHIO might craft a anthemic chorus, Allen takes a quieter approach. Unfortunately with each successive listen a search for memorability proves to be an exercise in futility. DESTROY NATE ALLEN would be the last thing I would consider offensive to anyones palate but Awake O’Sleeper is liable to bounce off of ears like a joke without a punchline.
