DEAD WRONG “Hellbomb”

Mosh part, mosh part, on the wall, which is the toughest label of them all? Stillborn! Stillborn! the wall cried, just listen to DEAD WRONG and you’ll see why! Actually, this Connecticut hardcore band doesn’t really deserve to be lumped into that tough-guy category, but their fiery brand of thick, old-school hardcore is rippin’ and surely dated. With the screaming guitars, dance parts a’plenty, and “us against them” lyrics (which happen to be pretty good for the genre), there’s no shortage of agression on this platter. Brutal negativity spreads across this disc in all areas – from songs called “Mass Suicide,” to “Dying Shell,” and from cover art of two wrists being slashed. As a five piece, DEAD WRONG have a massive sound, that’s similar to HATEBREED (shocker!), but not in a pale immitation kind of way. The production, while balanced, is not very loud, which either means one has to turn the stereo up a few notches, or has to reset their mind into believing this came out in the late 80s, where what we today call lo-fi is the norm. Hardcore for the hardcore? Something like that.
