DANCE FLOOR JUSTICE “Breaking The Silence”

Contrary to band name implications, Florida’s DANCE FLOOR JUSTICE (ex-UNTIL THE END, WHERE FEAR AND WEAPONS MEET and more) do not write songs about administering dance pit beatdowns. Rather, the group, whose name gives nods to a PROJECT X tune, keeps their ‘core steady with a semi-posi slant and a strong-willed attitude to get through whatever has them down. Musically, Breaking The Silence moves swiftly through its 21 minutes with a melange of mild-tempered breakdowns and rapid-fire beats. Although there’s two guitarists on the clock, DANCE FLOOR JUSTICE seems to rarely mobilize them for different missions. Breaking clings to a solid, but conservative sound, best emphasized by the speedy “The Amity Island Massacre,” and its neighbor, a crunchy blast of straight-edge inspired goodness titled “The Hurricane.” Both tunes aptly show the band’s ability to play with precision, but to not rock the boat. A few shout-alongs here and there (notably on “Exploiting the Masses”) pepper Breaking with enough personality to merit repeat listens, and the hope that with some more time, the band will allow themselves to loosen up a bit on future efforts.
