BARRICADE “S/T”

New York hardcore would never existed without the environment that produced it. Thus, the same is true for hardcore bands of this era. It is only fitting to reference the distinct essence of NYHC when discussing Phildadelphia’s BARRICADE. As one of Eulogy’s newest recruits, BARRICADE delivers a product that refuses any doubts of authenticity. None of BARRICADE’S music will leave you wondering what is trying to be accomplished with each passing song. Lines such as,There will always be suffering, no matter what you do to kill the pain, choke down pills take a drink, but your life won’t change, look around, look to god, look to others, but you have to look inside to find to find the answers., give ample insight into the spiteful nature of the band. Despite the obvious nods to NYHC there are traces of chunkier sides of Cleavland hardcore such as RINGWORM.

For the most part, this EP delivers the perfect amount of aggression without presenting a sour tough-guy approach. It is as honest as it is mean, and with that, BARRICADE pushes a lot of their peers to the sidelines with an unapologetic “fuck you”. With a full length in the works, I can only imagine BARRICADE will be a household name in the coming months.
