ATTRACTED TO MISS “In My Younger & More Vulnerable Years”

From the cover art of this disc, I really wasn’t expecting anything too great, as the impression I got was just another annoying pop-punk band, but once the music hit the stereo, ATTRACTED TO MISS became anything but annoying. This is how pop-punk is supposed to played: fast, loud, snotty, and with excitement! Yes, much of this band’s music and lyrics are still set in the overdone realm of personal hardship pertaining to relationships with the opposite sex, but given the proper treatment of rapid fire drumming, and gripping guitars, the sappiness is well contained. ATTRACTED TO MISS don’t try to sound slick, nor do they try to cover up any musical flows by using a vocalist who tries to hard – the level of balance with this band’s sound is amazing, especially given the fact that they are trio. I’m reminded heavily of ALKALINE TRIO around their “Goddamnit” era, and older MXPX (before they ventured on a downward spiral). Current fans of OVER IT and DON’T LOOK DOWN would probably dig this as well, especially if they want to avoid the cheese of many of today’s overproduced pop-punk lightweights.
