A LIFE ONCE LOST “The Fourth Plague: Flies EP”

Although brief in length, this five song EP is quite long in technical achievement and overall brutality. A LIFE ONCE LOST play that super metalcore style of massive double-bass, insane, thick guitar riffing, and screaming vocals. I’m new to this band, from all accounts of what I’ve read, this seems to be their best effort thus far, and I can’t help but comment on how tight this sounds. Lyrically, this all about the doom and gloom, and certainly minimalist in nature, but the entrenching demonic nature of the music is awesome in power. “Prepare Yourself For What Is To Come,” is the “creepy” song of the disc, with an opening line of “Let me rip the throat of your still warm body.” Mmmm…tasty. Anyway, to compliment the 13 minutes of music, there’s some sharp looking artwork, especially on the face of the cd. While hardly any EP is essentially, “The Fourth Plague: Flies,” certainly makes a bold statement to the public in that A LIFE ONCE LOST will soon be a force to contend with.
