Possibly the First Time FUGAZI and SNOOP DOG Titles Adjacently Appear In Ad

- For those seeking context, eMusic is running a sale on “75 great debut full-lengths”… and yes I realize, it’s a little silly since “13 songs” wasn’t quite a true full-length album.

From the inbox:

Back in action! TWEAK BIRD are busy readying their new EP Undercover Crops in anticipation of their upcoming September/October tour with THE MELVINS where they will be direct support for 45 of the 51 dates on the Melvins previously announced 51/51/51 trek.

Their 7-song Undercover Crops EP was recorded over a long weekend in June with Toshi Kasai -who alongside Dale Crover, produced and recorded Tweak Bird’s previous two releases, 2008′s Reservations EP and 2010′s self-titled LP- is set for release on October 9th via Volcom Entertainment.

Tweak Bird, brothers, Ashton and Caleb Bird, the now Los Angeles by-the-way-of Southern Illinois-based duo have been making loud, heavy music together for a better part of a decade in various incarnations. Driven by big drums, fuzzed out baritone guitar and tandem spacey vocal melodies, Tweak Bird effortlessly blend raw stoner rock and catchy pop bits to form short joyous bursts aural gratification.

Stream: UPWARD – “Pushed Aside” EP

- Screamy youth crew influenced hardcore from Milan, Italy. The song titles might be cliche, but the music is tight and the finger pointing moments unstoppable.

Florida’s THE ATTACK Detail and Stream New EP

From the inbox:

Simply put THE ATTACK play classic punk and hardcore. The Attack remembers when shows were an explosion of energy, excitement, and DIY ethics. The Attack was there when circle pits and mosh pits lived happily in the same shows and sets.

The Attack’s upcoming EP Too Punk for the Hardcore Show, Too Hardcore for the Punk Show (Rah Rah Rah Records) pokes fun at the fact that the band is dedicated to their punk and hardcore roots despite current trends in the underground.

Brad Palkevich, guitarist for The Attack states, “Everyone needs to go back and look at some old fliers, punk bands like The Pagan Babies were on the bill for the NYC Youth Crew Shows. Metal bands like Nuclear Assault were on gigs with GBH and Agnostic Front. For crying out loud, Slapshot played with The Exploited in New York when I was a kid. You would never see a show like that these days.”

“We’re not focused on the ‘good old days ’,” Palkevich continues, “we are focused on the fact that hundreds of amazing bands are going overlooked because they don’t fall into one micro genre or another.”

Based out of Orlando, Florida, The Attack stays true to their roots and their DIY message. Singer Charlie Bender and guitarist Brad Palkevich own Enemy Ink, a custom screen print shop focused on supplying merchandise to the projects they care most about. Enemy Ink was started with the sole intent of printing merch for bands Palkevich and Bender managed/performed in and now print for some of the most respected names in the underground.

Video: BROADCASTER – “Tightrope Walker”

- I’m a little late on this, but better being late than not including it at all. Super catchy indie power-pop that just melts with beautiful SUPERCHUNK and SEAWEED influences. This song is the title track from a two song 7″ out on Jump Start Records. Earlier material from the band can be heard on their Bandcamp page.

Stream: FLATFOOT 56: “Toil”

- If you’re gonna have bagpipes in your band and you’re not named DROPKICK MURPHYS or FLOGGING MOLLY, this is how your band should sound. Full-length out now via Paper + Plastick.

Stream: FOREVER CAME CALLING – “Contender”

- Energetic, weighty pop-punk from this young California group. Ten songs in about 24 minutes… I like the swiftness in which the release moves, not much room for going off the rails. There’s a technical undercurrent that grows and growls under the surface that bubbles into a roar on the title track. Out now on Pure Noise.
