Video: THE EX-SENATORS – “Start A Fight”

- Extremely well done cartoon video riffing on all sorts of political targets and topics; song isn’t too bad either! Reminds me of LOCAL H with a definite ‘modern CLASH’ vibe.

THIS IS HELL To Headline “Great American Thrash” Tour

From the inbox:

Long Island modern thrash metal act, THIS IS HELL, will continue its run of relentless touring this June/July with another round of North American headlining tour-dates, “Great American Thrash,” beginning June 15th in Whitehall, Pa. and wrapping up in Ottawa, Ontario, Can. on July 22nd. THE GREENERY (Prosthetic Records), XERXES (No Sleep Records), WASTER (Gold Stock Records) and HOLLOW EARTH (Panic Records) will accompany the hard working, veteran four-piece on select dates.

“North American touring in the summer is always difficult due to everyone and their mothers’ band wanting to go out during summer break and hit the festivals,” said guitarist, Rick Jimenez. “So we put together a super diverse package of bands we really like joining at different times throughout the tour to keep it fresh.”

Dates are after the jump…

Video: ON BODIES – “Just Can’t Win”

- Less than a minute long hardcore jam from Florida’s ON BODIES (ex-AS FRIENDS RUST). Short, to the point, and with all the hardcore fixings.

Stream: PENNYWISE – “All Or Nothing”

- Been a crazy week for me, not a lot of time for Pastepunk content, but this will make things a lot brighter on my end. PENNYWISE + Zoli is a tremendous pairing.

Song of the Day: BAD RELIGION – “Modern Man”

- One of the most exciting lead off songs from any punk rock record…

Stream: MOVING MOUNTAINS – “Where Too Bodies Lie” (New Light EP Version)

- Rarely am I bowled over by a ‘less-powered’ version of a song revisited by a band, but this is an extreme exception. The whole “New Light” EP is stunning, but this one brings the tremors, especially starting around the 2:35 mark…

Stream: OURLIVES – “Where Is The Way?”

- From the band’s bio, which doesn’t oversell their craft, “Ourlives are an explosive, emotive, expansive four-piece at the tipping point of their music recording lives, poised and ready — a band clearly capable of injecting their own edge and making forward-looking, life-touching music. Hailing from Reykjavik, Iceland, their music is a dramatic hybrid of melodic progressive rock and powerful emotional pop. They are not a band afraid to play with the warmth of old-school guitars, the analogue dust of keyboards, the power of silence, or the strength that can be found in their harmonious vocals. Their songs are founded on soothing, soaring melodies, emotional choruses, and the idea that less is often so much more. The foursome fuses their ambitious ideas together to produce a sound that’s as epic as their Icelandic landscape.” Okay, maybe “life-touching” is a bit over the top…
