ATLAS LOSING GRIP – “Watching The Horizon” EP

ATLAS LOSING GRIP made a New York Yankees style move last year when the already impressive speedy melodic punk and hardcore outfit replaced its singer with former SATANIC SURFERS vocalist Rodrigo Alfaro. Watching The Horizon is the first slab of music from the band with its new configuration and it bests their prior full-length Shut [...]

RATIONS LP Streaming / Name Your Price Download

From the inbox:

86′d Records and Fanzine has posted the first release from East Setauket, NY’s RATIONS as a name-your-price digital download on its Bandcamp page.

The full length features a couple of tracks with guest vocals by Lubrano from IRON CHIC and guest guitars by Lou from ON THE MIGHT OF PRINCES and FELLOW PROJECT.

86′d Records and Fanzine is the new label from Wells Tipley, former Maximum RockNRoll columnist and ex-Traffic Violation Records (On The Might of Princes, Operation: Cliff Clavin, I Farm, The Insurgent). Rations’ line-up was recently joined by Tia from Fellow Project and ex-Bridge and Tunnel.

- Things that make me (and Wells probably) feel dang old — going to see his old super fast EpiFat style punk band THE STRIPED BASSTARDS play various YMCAs on Long Island in the mid 90s! He is one prolific and restless dude. Give RATIONS a listen and maybe throw a few bones to the band for the download.

TDB To Release CHOKE UP EP

Teenage Disco Bloodbath Records will be releasing CHOKE UP’s seven song self-titled EP next week through its webstore. The MA four-piece plays a mix of emotive punk and hardcore not unlike SMALL BROWN BIKE or MY HEART TO JOY.  Several songs by the band are up on their MySpace page.

Spotlight On: NOTHING

Former members of Philly’s HORROR SHOW and COLD WORLD have emerged in a new, dark, indie rock outfit named NOTHING. Their impressive three song demo пошлость (poshlost) is available for free download and for streaming on their Bandcamp page. Turn the lights out and get lost in the music for a little while. The band also sports a slick looking Tumblr account that adds depth to their art-minded, thought-provoking aesthetics.

Run For Cover Signs BASEMENT

From the inbox:

Although there’s been some speculation for a while, we at RFC are happy to welcome the UK’s BASEMENT to our label. Basement have spent the last year playing shows overseas with Shook Ones, Title Fight, and Blacklisted, as well as releasing their debut 7″ Songs About the Weather on City of Gold Records, which will soon be released by Lost Tape Collective in the USA. The band plans on releasing a brand new full-length release on Run For Cover in 2011.

For now, download the new recording from Basement, titled Two Songs over at Bandcamp which will also be available from City of Gold Records as a limited cassette tape in the very near future.

Song of the Day: WITHIN THE RUINS – “Red Flagged”

- Since Victory now has 1.4 gazillion metal bands on its roster, it’s hard to remember which band is what, but the technical wizards in WITHIN THE RUINS are the exception, and the tune “Red Flagged”, from their new full-length, Invade, is 110% ass-kickery.
