THIS IS HELL Loses Transmission; Tour Dates Too

New York hardcore band THIS IS HELL have had to cancel the rest of their current tour with the exception of shows in Syracuse and Albany later this month. The band’s van suffered a transmission meltdown over the weekend around the Maryland/Delaware border. The band will pick up touring again in early 2010.

BLACKLISTED’s “No One Deserves To Be Here More Than Me” Out Now!

The most quietly issued, but highly anticipated hardcore release of 2009 is available now – BLACKLISTED’s vinyl/digital only No One Deserves To Be Here More Than Me, is finally shipping from the Deathwish store. The track listing goes something like this (and two of the songs supposedly feature the sweet, sweet sounds of a trumpet):

Side A:

Our Apartment Is Always Empty

Everything In My Life Is For Sale

J.M.N. (Interlude)

No One Deserves To Be Here More Than Me

G.E.H. (Interlude)

The P.I.G. (Problem Is G.)

Side B:

I’m Trying To Disappear

Palisade

Skeletons

I Am Extraordinary

S.M.F. (Interlude)

- Still haven’t heard this yet, and it’s eating up my insides. I’ll post a Lala stream once it makes its way on to the site. BLACKLISTED plan to do no press in support of the full-length, which doesn’t make much sense to me. BRAND NEW has said the same thing for their past couple of releases and they go and break the wall silence and do interviews anyway. I’ve never thought of BLACKLISTED as a band that DIDN’T have something worthwhile to say, so I hope that they reconsider their position.

ANDREW W.K. Does “Tiny Desk Concert” For NPR

The headline says it all… just wow…. video and its background are available here.

THE HELM – “Home”

Washington’s THE HELM (ex-UNDERTOW) have put together Home, their second full-length and first for Hex Records. Describing their doomy hardcore sound isn’t the easiest, but it the low-end thump it is like hearing the beleaguered grunts of a snowplow after it has smashed into a parked sedan. It ain’t pretty. For a ten song release [...]

HOSTAGE CALM Joins Run For Cover Records

The Run For Cover Records site is showing that Connecticut melodic hardcore band HOSTAGE CALM has signed with the label for a new full-length in 2010. A new song titled “Affidavit”  is posted there as well, for both streaming and download.

- Sweet! Everyone should pick up a copy of their debut full-length “Lens,” which has just been re-released on Panic Records. RIYL: DAG NASTY, ALL, SILENT MAJORITY. As an aside, I will forever be typing the band’s name as HOSTAGE CLAM…

REMISSION Posts LP For Free Download

Chilean hardcore band REMISSION has posted their new nine song LP Accept for free download via Mediafire. Copies of the 12″ vinyl are available from Amendment Records. The band describes its influences as VERBAL ASSAULT, UNIFORM CHOICE, and FARSIDE.

Spotlight On: FAR CRY

Revhq has stocked original copies of the CDEP from the mid-90s hardcore band FAR CRY. The group featured members of BATTERY and GRAVEL, and its Tillsday release came out on Germany’s Crucial Response Records. You can pick up the EP here, and listen to the song “Fade” here. RIYL: TURNING POINT, MOUTHPIECE, TOKEN ENTRY.

Release of the Day: EARTH CRISIS – “To The Death”

- I posted a lot about “To The Death” when it came out earlier this year, and it’s worth posting about some more now that I’m putting together the pieces for the Pastepunk Best of 2009 list. Few legendary hardcore/metal bands make “comeback” albums that standout in quality compared to their early, classic offerings, but EARTH CRISIS really nailed this one, and it surely beats anything after “Breed the Killers.”
