Hat tip to Lambgoat.com:
After a lengthy hiatus that left the members of Ensign scattered dealing with line-up changes, deaths, marriages, side-projects, and varied touring crew work (Tim Shaw spent the last two years guitar teching for RANCID while Nathan Gluck tour managed SICK OF IT ALL, UNEARTH and BURY YOUR DEAD), ENSIGN are pleased to announce plans for their upcoming fourth full-length album, Lost Message On A Fading Frequency, the follow up to 2001′s The Price Of Progression.
Dates have been confirmed for September/October of this year and they will once again be entering Trax East in South River, NJ with long-time constituent Eric Rachel. The band is currently working on pre-production for the new album with former drummer Chris Ross (NORA) at his Casa De Ross Studio in Highland Park, NJ.
According to bass player Nathan Gluck, “Building off of the foundation that was laid with Price we are pushing the envelope to encompass some of the heaviest and most thought provoking material in the bands 12+ year existence. The new material is drawing influences from all across the board and I can honestly say I haven’t been this excited in years.”

- No label or release date information is currently available. BUT YEA… I can barely get the words on how excited I am over this. ENSIGN have sorta been forgotten over the past half-decade, which unfortunately obscures the greatness of their “Cast The First Stone,” and “Direction Of Things To Come” full-lengths, both of which were scene-dominating hardcore releases at the times of their respective releases. Tim Shaw did make some noise the past two years with a pair of excellent releases in the project BETWEEN THE WARS, which in my mind, made the prospect of an ENSIGN reunion all more likely. Who knows if the band will tour in support of the release, but if it’s a full-blown comeback (even for a short while), I’d love to see a label like Bridge Nine, Century Media, or Ferret throw its support behind it.
