FACE TO FACE To Play Bamboozle Left

From the inbox:

After announcing their break-up in 2003 FACE TO FACE has revealed plans to reunite for upcoming live shows. ‚ÄúWe miss playing these songs live. That’s the only reason. We don’t plan on writing any new material or releasing new records as FACE TO FACE, but we are looking forward to getting out there and playing for people. The live shows have always been the best part of this band so why not continue to do something we love to do,‚Äù says lead singer/founder Trever Keith.

The band will consist of Keith, Scott Shiflett, Chad Yaro and Pete Parada. There are no immediate plans for a full scale tour. The band will be playing select festival dates in the U.S. and internationally. The first of which will be The Bamboozle Left in Southern California on April 5th.

Meanwhile, Trever Keith has completed a solo album under his own name which he plans on releasing digitally through his own website treverkeith.com in the coming weeks. The album, entitled Melancholics Anonymous, according to Keith ‚Äúpicks up where Ignorance is Bliss left off.” Ignorance is Bliss was one of the six albums released by FACE TO FACE during their 13 year career and marked a departure from their signature pop punk sound. Keith will embark on a series of solo dates performing new material from Melancholics Anonymous beginning March 8th in Los Angeles.

- This is as good a time as any to recommend again the band’s posthumously released retrospective Shoot The Moon, a 21 song collection that features the band’s best pop-punk tracks. You can pick it up from Interpunk or from a variety of digital retailers.

Indie Retailers to Hold “Record Store Day”

Much like the comic book industry’s “Comic Book Day,” the struggling independent record industry plans to hold a national day of retail awareness to draw attention to the slow (or sadly, quick) death that many stores are facing. No word on the specific details of the plan, but you should probably keep Saturday April 19, 2008 open. Check out more info about the campaign at their website.

I think this is a really cool idea and will hopefully do something to help out smaller stores who have really been drastically affected in the past couple of years.

For many bands that have a hard time writing an album’s worth of diverse tunes, an EP is a reliable solution. Think about this: how many times have you loved a five-song EP from a band only to get bored to death when said band’s full-length shows up a year later? While there are definitely [...]
