SHOTPOINTBLANK “Heart of a Disbeliever”

Ahh yes… another release that needs only a few sentences to describe it in a sufficiently detailed manner. Austrailia’s SHOTPOINTBLANK have definitely been influenced by the HATEBREED/TERROR/THROWDOWN school of metallic hardcore, with fierce rhythms, ample blasts of speed, dance parts, gang vocals, and an overall well of aggression that remains full throughout the duration of [...]

Five Songs That You Should Listen To Today

1. LAWRENCE ARMS – “”Requiem Revisited”": Alrighty, so this one isn’t ‘legally’ available yet, but if you won’t tell, I won’t either – totally killer song though…

2. BAD RELIGION – “”No Control”": I don’t think I even need to explain why this one is golden, but just in case – it’s most ‘grounded in reality’ song ever written.

3. THE DISTANCE – “”Filler”": Yes… it is a cover by ‘that’ band, but arguably, it rivals, if not bests the original, and has quickly become an instant pick-me-up. I can’t wait to hear THE DISTANCE’s debut full-length, due out on Abacus later this year.

4. DAG NASTY – “”I’ve Heard”": Alrighty, another classic, but this one’s an original, and it’s just as much as a kick to the guy today as it likely was when it was first penned almost 20 years ago. Given how much shit-talking has proliferated on the ‘net compared to the gossiping ways of old, this song’s meaning is 100x more valid.

5. STRUNG OUT – “”Too Close To See”": Back when bands wrote introspective lyrics naturally, rather than as a compliment to their outfits and ‘image management’ STRUNG OUT hit a grand slam with this song. Its title is an every day reminder for me to step back and see the larger picture when all of life’s complicated details start to blur together.

DKLIMB Posts Music From Hand of Hope Album

Recent signees to the Hand of Hope label, Florida’s DKLIMB have made available the first song from their upcoming debut full-length Defy Define Definition. The song “”What I Want Vs. What I Need”" can be streamed from the band’s myspace page. The band’s release is due in stores in early April.

- Cool song – not something that one would expect from the Eulogy/Hand of Hope gang. A big rock sound with equal doses of modern pop and emo. Sorta reminds me of TEXAS IS THE REASON’s mammoth guitar presence.

WILL HAVEN Premieres New Song

Long-absent San Diego group WILL HAVEN has added a brand new song to its myspace page. The song is titled “Handlebars to Freedom,” will likely appear on the upcoming full-length that the band is currently writing. WILL HAVEN previously released a number of full-lengths on Revelation Records.
