WHEN TIGERS FIGHT debut EP out soon!

From the Lumberjack Mailing List:

“”Jonathan Dennison (The Promise) and Jarrod Alexander (The Suicide File) began talking about doing a project band together in the summer of 2003 but the project really took shape once they enlisted former Damnation A.D. vocalist, Mike McTernan. The best way to describe this record is that it is truly the sum of all its parts. Being able to draw comparison with any of the members former endeavors all at the same time without being a re-hash or imitation of any of them. Street Date: 2005-03-08″”

BLACK PRINT “Movement”

This is a pretty solid debut EP from Chicago-based BLACK PRINT. With a style that blends JAWBREAKER with HOT WATER MUSIC (plus vocals that could easily be mistaken for Jim Ward of SPARTA), “Movement” is a respectable release that should land the group on some decent bills in the future. The only question is whether [...]

GRATITUDE post another new track!

GRATITUDE are making use of their pureVOLUME page by adding another track from their upcoming Self-Titled release. The new track is called “Another Division Street.” I’ve had the band’s album for a couple of days now, and I enjoy it more and more with every listen. We’ll be running an interview with lead vocalist, and guitarist Jonah Matranga in the near future.

Deathwish divulges MODERN LIFE IS WAR details

From the Deathwish Newsletter:

MODERN LIFE IS WAR Witness CD details announced

In their few short years of existence MODERN LIFE IS WAR have grown to become one of the most inspiring punk/hardcore bands in recent memory. Their debut album, My Love. My Way (Martyr 2003), crossed boundaries and won the support of the community with it’s unwavering passion and sincerity. Appealing to everyone from the jaded to the driven with their immeasurable heart and vigor. The new album from MODERN LIFE IS WAR, Witness, was recorded and engineered by Kurt Ballou (Converge) at God City Studios in Salem MA. Witness is not only musical progression for the band, but arguably true artistic perfection. Witness is their true story of real life struggle in contemporary rural America. As importantly, Witness is also their artistic journey into the soul of personal rebellion. An introspective gaze into the bitter exile of their own lost generation. Lyrically captivating, musically discordant, and soulfully haunting, Witness is both the crowning achievement and well worn scar we all long to artistically create. Saying the words that we all wish we could say, in the name of the pain, beauty, and the hardship of living.

Look for MODERN LIFE IS WAR’s Witness everywhere this summer.

- Alright, so basically I just posted a nice fluff piece on the band written by their label, but nonetheless, this album is going to be amazing…

Album of the day

GUNMETAL GREY – Solitude

- Where did this band come from?!? Pretty impressive metal from these guys, reminds me a lot of ARCH ENEMY in style. A rare, exciting release from Indianola…

ABOVE THIS FIRE prepare new record; cheapo pre-sale price effect!

I just got a copy of ABOVE THIS FIRE’s debut full-length, In Perspective a couple of days ago and it has already earned some heavy playing time. Life Sentence Records is set to release this disc on March 8th, and currently has a $5.00 pre-sale price going on, which is a ridiculously good deal. These guys play technical metallic hardcore with tremendous breakdowns and melodic vocals, somewhat in the vein of STRIFE. Check out two songs below for a taste…
