Reuters interviews LACUNA COIL

I found this mentioned on the Century Media site, so I tracked down this interview on Yahoo. As LACUNA COIL have just passed sales of 100,000 copies of their amazing release “”Comalies”" there just seems to be a glimmer of hope that this Italian melodic metal band will get the attention they deserve in the US. “”Comalies”" earned a spot on Pastepunk’s best of 2002 list, and was recently re-packaged by Century Media with a bonus DVD, featuring live footage and other assorted videos.

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME “The Silent Circus”

Just when it seems like the envelope of interesting metalcore couldn’t be pushed any further, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME raise the bar up a few notches. The key to this release, their first for Victory Records, is the extensive prog-rock influence, as it really helps accentuate how diverse, and talented the members of this [...]

INTO ETERNITY fall short upon the gates of everlasting awesomeness

Wowzers, that’s one awful headline

According to theprp.com, “”Into Eternity have parted ways with both drummer/death vocalist Jim Austin and lead guitarist/death vocalist Chris Krall due to financial reasons.”" That’s pretty terrible news for this extremely talented metal band, whose latest release, “”Buried in Oblivion”" has been a staple on my stereo since its release in early March. With some of the best melodic vocals that I have ever heard in heavy music, I have a hard timing seeing these guys replace that kind of gaping hole – and the band’s drummer was no slouch either! Doh.

FARENHEIT 451 video

I posted about FARENHEIT 451 a couple of months ago, as I unearthed a webzine run by the former singer of the long-gone band. In addition to the band’s final, never-released album being available in mp3, there’s also a high-quality fan-made video up on the site for the song “”Guided.”" While I don’t think this is the band’s best tune (check out “”Blind”" for that honor), the video definitely features some awesome live footage. Check it out at the link below.

… is one you might not be aware of: GOLDENBOY on Fastmusic. I just got this one yesterday and gave it a whirl last night – it’s just good straight-up traditional pop-punk with loads of youthful energy and a vocalist who can actually hold a note. Yes, I know, I true rarity these days!

Dual Disc to debut in December

From Hitsdailydouble.com:

DUAL DISC TO DEBUT: Just in case DVD Audio, SACD or any of the other hybrid audio disc formats haven’t confused you enough, here comes one called Dual Disc, which has won approval by something called the DVD Forum to use the official “DVD” moniker. Dual Disc is a half-CD, half-DVD concoction that will allow albums to be presented in standard CD format (playable on any CD player) and surround sound (via DVD player) simultaneously, with included video content rounding out the package. Audio/Video News reports that some 30 to 50 titles could be on sale before Christmas, at a list price below the $18.99 that had previously been suggested, making Dual Discs less expensive than most DVD movies. EMI has reportedly been working with surround-sound company DTS to remix many of its titles even before the Dual Disc format was finalized which may give it a jump on competitors.

- There’s no official word if the CD half of the discs will be copy-protected…
