Harvard scholars conduct a 100 page case study on the iTunes Music Store; copyright students everywhere groan over new reading assignment…

Judging by the title to this post, I get the feeling no one is going to bother to click the link that’s a few lines down, but face it – if you’re reading this site, then you probably have an interest in the iTunes Music Store and the future of music distribution through digital media formats usings digital rights management systems. Harvard’s Berkman Center of Internet & Society is a part of their Law School, and the Center conducted this extremely thorough study about iTunes and the related issues of copyright law that spring up in its operation. The Center summed up their study as:

The Case Study offers a concrete view of the way law, technology, and business model interact in the post-Napster world. The Case Study has focused on four important regulatory issues:

Interaction between Copyright and Contract Law

Digital Rights Management

Digital First Sale Doctrine

Fair Use Doctrine

New EIGHTEEN VISIONS song at Trustkill.com

Yea, I’m a few days late posting about this, but that’s because I’ve been really busy digging a tunnel to provide direct access between my apartment and the really good deli across the street. Some people get hobbies…I just like to dig tunnels.

Trustkill on its index page has streaming a brand new EIGHTEEN VISIONS song called “”Waiting For The Heavens.”" This is actually a new, more polished sounding version of the song which made its first appearance on Trustkill’s “”Blood, Sweat, and 10 Years”" compilation. The reworked versions is indeed, much improved. Word.

Various Artists “Time Flies By”

This is a fairly amazing compilation from Netherlands, featuring mostly small and medium sized American bands, and highlighting some of the best melodic emo/pop-punk music coming out today. The only huge name on here is MIDTOWN, who contribute an acoustic version of “Living In Spite,” and although that might be a key selling point, the [...]

How many other webzines out there have the balls to run a feature on DAYS LIKE THESE and then toss up a review for 100 DEMONS?

Abacus Records continues to build line-up; announces signing of ALL ELSE FAILED

From the label:

As part of the joining of forces between Now Or Never Records and the Century Family, New Jersey-based All Else Failed will be added to the growing Abacus Recordings roster.

Although plagued by a mysterious past of near break ups, different projects, or the favorite word: “”hiatus,”" All Else Failed are back to dispel all the rumors. More primed and ready than ever, they are back with a solid line-up in tact and an all-new full length, to boot. Composed of 14 tracks, the effort, entitled This Never Happened, features the band firing on all cylinders (and even some cylinders you didn’t even know they had). The new album will be released this summer on Abacus Recordings with touring plans to be announced shortly.

You can listen to the track “”To Whom It May Concern,”" from This Never Happened here.
