UNTIL THE END “Blood In The Ink”

There’s so many different variations of what one considers hardcore these days, I often get headaches just thinking about. For a long time, Victory Records set the standards for what was considered to be modern hardcore, but once the popularity of fairly straight-forward metallic hardcore like STRIFE, DESPAIR, INTEGRITY, and so forth began to wane, [...]

So who watched Arrested Development last night?

This show has to be one of the funniest things I’ve seen on TV in years. It has quick wit, slapstick humor, and some of the best characterizations that have ever graced the screen. You know a show is good when Washington Post TV critic, Tom Shales, who usually hates everything (often rightfully so), writes a column pleading with viewers to watch it before FOX gives it the axe (that they tend to do with any show that doesn’t instantly rival the Superbowl in ratings). So dear readers, watch Arrested Development next sunday and don’t let it fall into the ever-growing graveyard of great FOX shows prematurely sent to the guilotine (THE CRITIC, FAMILY GUY, ANDY RICHTER CONTROLS THE UNIVERSE…).

US BOMBS “Back At The Laundromat”

Duane Peters might just be the most punk fucking rock man alive. Have you seen this guy lately? He’s the essance of cool. He’s the kinda guy that will puke on your shoes, then apologize, clean it up, and then puke again. I’ve always been intrigued by the US BOMBS. Their music has never blown [...]

Does your computer ever get that not so fresh feeling?

There’s an article in today’s New York Times entitled, “When Free Isn’t Free,” that details some of the effects of spyware, and similar computer programs that come from file-sharing applications, and other downloads. Before the article degenerates into broad takes on some of the failures of pre-dot-com-burst marketing techniques, there’s a pretty description about how spyware essentially treats your computer to a slow, painful death. Check out the article here. The article also features some quotes from NYU Professor Siva Vaidhyanathan, whose book, “Copyrights and Copywrongs” is definitely worth checking out.

The return of OPUS!

While I was pretty much too young to really enjoy the comic strip Bloom County while it was in its hey-day, I did gobble up every book I could featuring the comic after its early exit. Fortunately, after some ten years of dormancy, the beloved character Opus returns in a now Sunday-only strip under his name. Thank Berkeley Breathed, you have given me one more reason to salivate for the Sunday paper every week.
