You know…

For all he talks about food you’d think Jordan would be a little bigger….

Things to do in New York

I’m back in NY for the weekend, courtesy of the Jewish holiday, so obviously, this calls for a short list of mandatory things to do:

1. Eat a New York bagel

2. Eat New York chinese food

3. Eat New York pizza

4. Eat at a New York kosher deli

5. Eat at a New York diner off of Sunrise Highway

SOMEHOW HOLLOW “Busted Wings and Rusted Halos”

On first listen of “Busted Wings and Rusted Halos,” I was definitely not impressed. Although the musicianship was rock solid, and the songs were generally catchy, the vocals were just driving me crazy. I find it stunning that these guys actually made it to releasing this disc with the shape the vocals are in. Besides [...]

Josh Freese has been surpassed

Jarrod Alexander, who has appeared on countless amazing recordings over the last few years, including records from Death By Stereo, American Nightmare, Throwdown and The Suicide File is, according to their bio, playing drums for All American Rejects Clone serial number 0961003, JamisonParker. It won’t be long before we see him getting credited as “tribal percussion” on the next JC Chasez solo album. (Yes, I keep track of these things). Each card equals four feet of pure sub goodness; so by doing a tiny bit of math, since early 2003, when my local Subway started giving out the cards and stamps, I have consumed a glorious 80 feet of sandwich satisfaction. Woo!

SINCE BY MAN “We Sing The Body Electric”

There are very few record labels where I salivate before every one of their releases. The quality control at Revelation Records is pretty tight – and if they sign a new band, or one relatively unknown outside of their hometown, such as SINCE BY MAN, the odds are, that band is awesome. “We Sing The [...]

CURSIVE, BLOOD BROTHERS, EASTERN YOUTH @ Alley Katz, Richmond, 9/24/03

Wait, wait, wait…CURSIVE and THE BLOOD BROTHERS? I mean, there have been stranger tour mates, and I can’t complain when two bands that have released amazing albums in 2003 are touring together, but pairing the spastic chaos of THE BLOOD BROTHERS with the mature, composed CURSIVE? In any case, “Burn Piano Island, Burn” and “The [...]
