NONE MORE BLACK “File Under Black”

Humor me for just a moment: KID DYNAMITE pretty much changed the way I thought about hardcore. There are no apt words to describe the overwhelming feeling of empowerment and excitement that set across my body when I first listened to their “S/T” disc. There’s virtually no way in my mind for me to separate [...]

New LAW OF INERTIA stuff

My favorite print zine (by far!), LAW OF INERTIA has just released issue #13, and the circulation on this sucker is now 25,000 copies! You should be able to find it at any Tower, Borders, Barnes & Noble, and of course, Interpunk.com. In addition, they also have a super spiffy new website for both the zine, and the label (check out THE SCARIES!!!), which can be found at lawofinertia.com. The new site was designed by the Trustkill Media Group and it is sweeeeet. Finally, LOI signed a new band, ALI WITH AN I, and I know there are more than a few people out there who think these guys are greater than sliced bread. Word.

Just in case anyone forgot…

18 VISIONS – Vanity = absolutely amazing.

NOISE RATCHET “S/T EP”

Hot off the heels of this band’s debut full-length from 2002, NOISE RATCHET’s six song, (23 minute) EP is a sweet warm-up for the band’s upcoming major label bow. And by “sweet,” we talking about some of the catchiest, sugar coated pop-rock tunes I’ve ever heard. Topped off with a massive production job (recorded at [...]

Skate and Surf Festival 2003 – Asbury Park Convention Hall, Asbury Park, New Jersey. April 25-27, 2003.

For the third year in a row, it was my privilege to attend Skate and Surf at Asbury Park. In years past, acts such as THE MOVIELIFE, GLASSJAW, THE GET UP KIDS, GOOD CHARLOTTE, NEW FOUND GLORY, and MIDTOWN have played at this ever-growing festival. This year saw bands like BRAND NEW, ALKALINE TRIO, GOLDFINGER, [...]

Day 2 of Skate and Surf…

Nick "Biff" Corrado checks in with this report: "The weather is bad…The Reunion Show are great…Taking Back Sunday are going in a bit, and the "Biff" is pumped. Now back to the studio…

NOFX “War On Errorism”

After the disappointingly bland, “So Long And Thanks For All The Shoes,” NOFX unleashed a scorcher in “Pump up the Valium,” proving that both the band’s creative juices and need for speed still had some life in them. After a two year layover, NOFX are back with a flurry of new releases, with this new [...]
