Pure evil…

So there's a brand new Starbucks that just opened up right across the street from my apartment building. Now, my coffee addiction isn't so bad that I can't physically walk away from the store everytime I see it, but it's getting close. I liken the feeling to making a person walk through a liquor store before attending an AA meeting. It's just sitting there asking trouble. This is something that's clearly "to be continued…"

KICKED IN THE HEAD “Salita EP”

I had reviewed this band’s previous full-length some years ago, and while it was a decent mix of aggressive punk rock with horns, it seemed all over the place. “Salita” heeds this band moving in a more cohesive, “big rock” direction, sounding partly like the OFFSPRING, and the MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES, without the ska. This [...]

re: Tami vs the Elephant

I'm still amazed that she stared down both the Elephant and the midgets at one time. Then she towed the damn airplane herself!

the choice of a new generation

Odd.
Just saw MxPx in a Diet Pepsi ad. Weird.

KISSING CHAOS “Enter With A Bullet EP”

Fueled By Ramen’s “family” has always impressed me, both for its diversity, and for the bands that this label took a chance on, like FRODUS, or MID CARSON JULY (both sadly departed). KISSING CHAOS is the latest relative “wild-card” for the label, by all accounts, their debut release, “Enter With A Bullet,” (produced by Rory [...]

Observations from the emptied Kiddie Pool (water main issues)

1. The new SINCE BY MAN cd, which is due out on Revelation Records on February 4th, is just sick. I've been playing this thing like mad.

2. It's 11:39pm and I'm drinking coffee. This is not a good situation. See ya at the sunrise!

3. I do not care for either team in the Superbowl this year. I hope a sinkhole develops on the field and swallows up Warren Sapp and Keyshawn Johnson.

4. Nick's birthday party at Pastepunk HQ was amazing. You should have seen the way Tami took command over the elephant we had over here. The look on its eyes was priceless. Way to go Tami!

5. A New York Islander fan took out a full-page advertisement in the local Newsday paper, berating the team for their lackluster (read: shitty) performance against the arch-enemy New York Rangers earlier in the week. Apparently the Islander's coaching staff was perturbed by the ad, and used it to fire up the players against the Philly Flyers on Friday. The cost of the ad was $28,800. I'm duly impressed by this fan. GO ISLANDERS!

6. The new CAVE IN cd, "Antenna" WILL be the best release of 2003. This is not subject to argument.

7. Kevin Wade spilled mustard on his pants last night. Haha…loser.

8. Every now and then I wish I was a bear.

The following pieces of information are newsworthy:

1) The Unwritten Law unplugged disc: not so good.

2) Bronto is annoyed that very few people have emailed asking for a signed photo.

3) Amplitude is probably the only video game I will buy over the next year.

4) Hot Topic is selling a compilation called "Metal For The Masses." If you actually ever go into that store, I demand that you buy that cd.

5) I AM STILL AWESOME

6) Unearth and Every Time I Die are touring together in late February/early March, and that, my friends, rules.

7) This is a truly amazing book.

8) I totally forgot the super bowl is tomorrow.

9) Chances of me making it to #10: not very good.
