Checking In With: GHOST BUFFALO Posted by Corey Schmidt / April 28, 2007 Last year, the Denver-based band GHOST BUFFALO released their debut self-titled disc on Suburban Home Records, and subsequently went through a number of line-up changes, as band guitarist Matt Bellinger illustrates below. For more on GHOST BUFFALO, you can check them out at MySpace or listen to their whole album at Suburban Home's listening station.
Pastepunk: What's been going on with GHOST BUFFALO since releasing your Suburban Home debut last year?
Matt: Wow! GHOST BUFFALO has been through some turbulent times in the past year. After Mikey [Rickett]'s departure from the band to pursue PLANES MISTAKEN FOR STARS we went through two drummers that didn't work out. Both of them are great drummers and dudes but it wasn't flowing. Late last summer our bassist Tom Ventura decided to leave the band to pursue his career. Then Josh Coyle (acoustic), my cousin, decided he and his special lady friend were gonna move back to Chicago. On Friday, October 13th of last year Marie Litton (vocals, guitar) and I got married at Denver's own Mercury Theater, and then spent a week in Amsterdam to think about the BUFFALO's future and enjoy our honeymoon. Finally we stumbled into Jedd Kopp (drums) and Ben Williams (bass), formerly of Denvers Landlordland. The pair have managed to breath a new life into the BUFFALO, and we are writing new material at the moment that we couldn't be happier with.
Pastepunk: What are your plans as a band for this summer and beyond? Can we expect to hear new songs or see you on tour anytime soon?
Matt: We are currently writing and getting ready to tour. We are about to book a west coast tour for July. We are without booking at the moment so we are doing it DIY style but always on the hunt for help. We are hoping to have an EP of new stuff ready for the tour and then head home to finish up writing for a new full length.
Pastepunk: I noticed that you sell songs on your MySpace using Snocap. How has that service worked out for you?
Matt: Honestly, I don't have any idea how that got there. Maybe our label (Suburban Home) put it up, but it's kinda a mystery to us. So, to be frank, I don't know, but hey, it makes our MySpace page look sweet.
